We had a great visit to Zorzal Cacao in the Dominican Republic! We loved their beans since we first tasted them last year but up until now we haven't had time for a visit. We're so happy we finally made it happen! Our timing was great as Zorzal recently completed construction of their new fermentation and drying facility, which not only allows them to better control the entire post-harvest process but also can accommodate a much larger volume of cacao...

One of our goals when we started was to make great tasting, ethically sourced craft chocolate available to as many people as possible. Most high quality single origin bars were priced in the low-to-mid teens, which was more than many people wanted to spend to try something new. After all, what if they didn't like it? Each year the International Chocolate Awards holds competitions for each region of the world, and the winners in those regions are able to submit their bars against the best of the best in the World Finals. We're happy to announce that at the awards ceremony in Florence, Italy this past Saturday we had two winners - our Ucayali bar won Bronze and our Asochivite with Maple won Silver!

The Good Food Foundation released the list of Finalists for their 2019 Awards and two of our bars are on it! Our Special Reserve with Putnam Rye Whiskey bar and the El Carmen with Coffee bar are full of unique flavors, and the best part is the coffee and whiskey are both sourced locally!
