My favorite bar that Goodnow farms makes!
Enjoyed this speciality Caramelized Onion bar and it was definitely worth trying. Carmelized onions and chocolate are two favorite flavors and they did work together . But our GoodNow favs will probably always be the pure dark chocolate single source Signature line and the Yasica bar.
The Caramelized Onion bar is not something I'd ever purchase from any other chocolatier, but I trust Goodnow Farms to give me nothing but pleasant surprises (ie the Black Urfa Chili bar). The initial taste of this bar is deep and savory and balanced. I'm not as wild about the oniony aftertaste that lingers and pops back up hours later. But I'm definitely glad I tried it. I'd say this is a bar to enjoy a square of after something like a bowl of chili, or as part of a charcuterie tray with a full-bodied red wine. After all, I put cocoa powder into my onion-filled chili, so there's something to be said for the combo. It's definitely a chocolate for the serious connoisseur who will appreciate the originality, and again, the depth and balance as it melts in your mouth are truly exceptional.
Smooth and savory tasting experience. The intense, melt-in-your mouth SWEET onion flavor is incredible and never excessive. It’s truly a unique and supremely satisfying journey. Tasting Notes: Brown sugar, pear, sweet onions, potato chips (onion flavored). The finish is earthy, leaving an extremely pleasant dry mouthfeel. Do not be intimidated by the NAME & the TYPE OF INCLUSION because this chocolate bar is like cherries: once you start savoring it, you just can't stop! It is perfect at the end of a meal and, in particular, with beer and cheese. I truly think Tom & Monica absolutely smacked on this recipe.
This bar is AMAZING. Savoury chocolate is a whole other ballgame. If you’re open to it, I highly recommend you try this bar (assuming you like onion!). Burlap and Barrel, props to you! The onion is so flavourful, sweet and complex. And of course, to Tom and Monica too (you chocolate Dieties : ). Thank you! This bar should totally not be temporary!
Weird in concept, but actually tastes pretty good.
I'll be honest, I was a bit afraid of this combo. Chocolate and onion, really? But I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Great chocolate taste with a subtle hint of onion makes a perfect combination

Your CARAMELIZED ONION BAR IS DELICIOUS as it melts in your mouth & ALL THE TONES are making BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!! This Bar ranks right up there with Lawley’s Rum, El Carmen infused with Coffee & The AMERICAN BAR that you gave us!!!!!!!! Thank you for GREAT CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!
I'm always interested in unusual combinations with chocolate and this one is a winner in my book. The onion adds flavor to the bar without coming across as sweet the way caramelized onions can sometimes. The pairing of the onion flavor and the chocolate works well.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have put onions with chocolate, but this bar was surprisingly good! The onion took a few moments to register on my taste buds, but it hit with a familiar, savory, straight from the pan, mouth-watering flavor. I will get this again!
