We make our delicious hot cocoa from the same premium single origin beans we use to make our chocolate, so each variety has it’s own unique flavor profile! This Almendra Blanca hot cocoa has a distinctive nutty flavor.
We’re one of only a few chocolate makers who press their own cocoa butter. One of the many benefits of this time consuming process is that we’re able to make this rich, incredibly flavorful hot cocoa mix from scratch right here in our kitchen.
Most hot cocoa is alkalized, which means it’s washed with a solution of potassium carbonate. This allows the cocoa powder to dissolve in milk or water more easily, but significantly alters the flavor. Alkalizing also removes a significant amount of the natural flavanols, which are compounds that play a significant role in the beneficial effects of eating cacao.
Our cocoa is NOT alkalized. You may need to stir a your hot cocoa a bit more vigorously but you’ll taste the unique flavor of the beans, and get the full benefit of cacao’s flavanols!Mexico, 220g Bag

A delicious mild and balanced cup of cocoa .. not too sweet, not too dark, with a lovely hazelnut undertone that lingers. I’ve liked a 1/2c milk to 1T powder ratio for other Goodnow Farms cocoa’s, but this mix is perfected with a heavier cocoa hand and gives a deeper, darker velvety sip if you add in a bit more powder. I gently whip with a whisk to get all the delicious bits blended which also creates a nice airy foam. Will be ordering more soon!
With the cold weather and the lovely Covid time at home taken to trying a variety of hot cocoa’s as of late. We found the Goodnow Farms Almendra to be light, somewhat nutty, and also a uniquely rich. It’s an excellent choice if you want to try something different.
I’m so excited to find this hot chocolate! I’ve been searching for a hot chocolate that is gluten-free (celiac), non-dairy, and tastes like homemade hot chocolate. It’s velvety smooth with a rich chocolate taste that’s not too sweet. I highly recommend it! I make mine with oat milk and it’s delicious!
