Our Old Fashioned Root Beer bar is a 2026 Good Food Awards Winner

The 2026 Good Food Awards were announced recently and our Old Fashioned Root Beer Limited Release bar is a winner!  We're proud to share that this is our 8th consecutive Good Food Awards winner.

The Good Food Awards is one of the most (and possibly THE most) respected awards in the craft food industry.  It focuses not only on flavor and quality, but also on transparency and sustainability.  By doing so they raise awareness of all the small craft makers who are doing the very difficult work of sourcing the finest ingredients in ways that support supply chains, rather than taking advantage of those toward the bottom.  This type of sourcing adds cost to the products they make, but it also results in foods with incredible and unique flavors.

The Good Food Awards were established in 2010, and each year they honor a select group of craft foods with the Good Food winner seal,  from pickles and cheese to coffee and, of course, chocolate.

One of the reasons this award is so coveted is because very few are given out.  The Good Food Awards breaks up the country into five regions, and each region is limited to three winners.  For the full list of winners check out their 2026 Award Winners Page.  Using the menu at the top you can choose which categories and regions to view.

We created this bar because we LOVE root beer.  Finding the best ingredients to give the flavor of old fashioned root beer was a lot more difficult than we expected - even sourcing sarsaparilla transparently was a challenge.  Then, getting exactly the right root beer flavor took a LOT of test batches.  But, the end result, which includes sarsaparilla, planifolia vanilla, birch bark, star anise, and more, is a mind-blowing delight.  The chocolate for this bar was crafted from our single origin Boyaca cacao, which has natural flavors of graham cracker and toasted marshmallow.

Since this bar is a Limited Release it won't be around forever.  Try it for yourself in our online shop!

Tasting Notes:  Aromas of vanilla and marshmallow meld with creamy sarsaparilla, woody notes, rich chocolate, wintergreen and lingering licorice.
