We have several here on the farm, two of which are mature enough to produce enough apples for this bar on good years. Luckily this is a good year! The apple is named after horticulturalist W.T. Macoun, who developed it in 1932 by crossing McIntosh and Jersey Black apples. The name can be pronounced as either \"Ma-coon\" or \"McCowan.\" As for us, we have a pretty even split between the pronunciations - luckily both are right!  The flavor is sweet, tart and classic New England.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eAbout the Cinnamon Verum\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe Cinnamon Verum for this bar is sourced directly by Burlap and Barrel from a cooperative of farmers in Zanzibar. It's made from the inner bark of the Cinnamomum verum tree, then sun dried and ground.
