Limited Release, Bejofo Estate
Available exclusively on our website! These Limited Release bars are our way of sharing the incredible fine flavor cacao we receive from farmers all over the world. Although we aren’t able to visit these farms personally we’re so impressed with the quality and incredible flavors we just had to turn the beans into chocolate. As with all our bars these are made with cocoa butter we freshly press from the same beans we use to make the bars. We make only one batch of each of origin, so they’re only available for a limited time.
About Bejofo Estate
Madagascar is considered to be one of the best places in the world to find fine flavor cacao with unique and interesting flavor characteristics. We’ve wanted to make a bar with Madagascar cacao for a very long time, and are proud to present this Limited Edition bar made with cacao from the 100-year-old Bejofo Estate.
The Bejofo Estate is owned by Bertil Akesson, one of the best known and most experienced cacao producers in the world. The estate is located in the Sambirano Valley, in the northwest of Madagascar. The genetic profile is predominantly Criollo with a mix of other genetics, primarily Amelonando. In 2018 Akesson’s Bejofo Estate cacao was awarded an Heirloom Designation by the Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund.
Tasting notes: Caramel, citrus, cherry. Smooth, balanced and mellow. Long, slightly nutty finish.

Another excellent chocolate from Goodnow Farms, with a nice, bright chocolate flavor. But I wouldn't say that it is worth a 40% premium over their other chocolates.
This comes too late to offer specifics about the flavorfulness of the Farms' Bejofo Estate, but I can heartily endorse the richness of the experience as on a par with that of the seven other bean-to-bar varieties offered by Goodnow Farms. They're all marvelous and the founders can be justly proud of the completeness of their crafting, packaging, and marketing, which almost has one believing that the cacao trees are kept in greenhouses on the farm in eastern Massachusetts. An extra kudo for the simple, effective, stylish, and informative packaging now that I'm sampling an Austrian competitor's overly complex wrappings, whose adhesives ruin the graphics and text runs toward triteness. My only reservation is that each piece, an eighth of a bar, in the course of melting in the mouth, seemed to separate into stages of dissolution: first the complexities of the cacao mass, followed by perhaps a sticky tab of your home-made cacao butter? I bring it up not as a flaw but because I've not had a similar experience with other chocolates. Salut!
Another complex bar with amazing flavors... not sure I can describe precisely, but I definitely recommend and plan to buy more.
Delicious as always!
Enjoyed the deep lingering flavor of this Madagascar chocolate. Very satisfying taste that stimulated my taste buds and gave the pleasure of very real chocolate. Offered it to visiting friends who appreciated it as well and found the taste most satisfying asking for where I purchased it.
